Executive Director, Jeff Cooper

Jeff has a BA in Theater from Judson University (Elgin, Ill.) and Master's work in directing from the University of Illinois and the Ohio State University. He has directed numerous plays and musicals over the past 40 years. Jeff founded FTHTG in Idaho and there directed four shows, It's a Wonderful Life - the Musical in 2014, Man of LaMancha in 2013, Joseph and the Amazing technicolor Dreamcoat in 2011 and Godpsell in 2010. He had also directed Godspell in 2006 while working as the drama teacher at the Arts and College Prepartory Academy in Columbus, Ohio.

Bringing a unique perspective to theater, Jeff has also been a pastor for the past 34 years, having moved to Oregon, Ohio in June of 2016 to pastor Ashland Church which places a high value on ministry in the performing arts. Jeff and the congregation sees From the Heart Theater Group as one more way the church can give something meaningful to the community. The entire church community (East Region Churches United) are excited about participating in this ministry which is open to all people regardless of faith, race, age, or gender.

FTHTG is not a church theater group - it is a COMMUNITY THEATER GROUP sponsored by a church who believes in being involved in the community.

"I am excited to announce something we have never done before - a Christmas Double Feature, A Charlie Brown Christmas will be performed by Jr Hi and Sr. Hi students and One Bethlehem Night has a limitless size cast (after all, Bethlehem was so crowded there was no room in the Inn). At the end of A Charlie Brown Christmas, Linus reads the Christmas story from Luke 2 - after intermission, One Bethlehem Night will show the story Linus had just read, perfectly fitting the two together into a wonderful evening of Christmas entertainment which tells the story of the true meaning of Christmas." --- Jeff Cooper
